Budgets to be released only after activities are prioritized from next year

There will be a change in the procedure of the Annual Performance Agreement from next year. Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering said it is important to prioritize activities before approving the budget.

“This year, I did my part. But still, there are ways to bring changes to the procedure. We are signing the Annual Performance Agreement now while the budget has been already approved. But from next year, before approving the budget, we will have to identify a month as an APA month and prioritize activities. And only after we complete signing the Annual Performance Agreements, we will ask the finance ministry for the budget. The budget approval will be subjected to approving the prioritized activities and the Annual Performance Agreement. Meaning, the finance ministry will not approve budgets until activities are prioritized,” Dr Lotay Tshering, the Prime Minister.
