The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is accusing a 36-year-old man from Saephu in Wangdue Phodrang of voluntary manslaughter. Last month, a 26-year-old man from the same gewog succumbed to stabbed injury where the suspect was involved.

The OAG forwarded the case to the Wangdue Phodrang District Court on September 17.

According to the investigation report, the accused stabbed the deceased following a fight. The incident took place during the consecration ceremony of a house in Saephu. As per the report, the accused denied the deceased’s suggestion of working together in future as well.

Following the fight, the victim was immediately evacuated to Saephu Basic Health Unit and referred to the National Referral Hospital in Thimphu. He died nine days after the incident.

The plaintiff is charged with a Second Degree felony. It has a prison term of nine years to 15 years. The OAG is also requesting the court to direct the accused to pay compensation of Nu 492,875 to the relatives and parents of the deceased.
