Unlike last year, the nomads’ festival this year in Bumthang saw a good number of tourists. The festival was aimed to attract tourists. Last year, about 28 tourists attended the festival. But this time, the festival saw over 40 tourists.

The first annual nomads festival was held in 2009. During that time only 15 tourists came to witness the festival. Tourists were seen visiting each and every stall where the nomadic communities displayed their products and their distinct culture and tradition.

The organiser of the festival,Wangchuck Centennial park office said, the increase in the number of tourists this year was because they informed the Tourism Council in advance about the dates of the festival.

The increase is also attributed to the Tshechu festival in Chumey gewog which coincided with the nomads’ festival. The three-day Nomads festival was held from 23rd till 25th of this month.
