Bhutan defeats Nepal in friendly match

The Under-15 Bhutanese national team defeated the Under-15 Grass Root Academy team from Nepal in a friendly match, which was played at the Changlimithang National Stadium, today.

Right from the start, the Bhutanese side made their intentions to win clear by attacking the Nepalese goal keeper with several desperate shots.

However, it was only in the 9th minute of the first half that Bhutan scored its first goal.

The story was no different in the second half as the Bhutanese team continued to dominate the game.  The match ended with Bhutan defeating Nepal 12-0.

“This is our first time playing a match against Nepal. I am happy that we were able to perform well,” Pema Zangpo, a player from the national team, said.

The Grass Root Academy is a football youth academy based in Nepal. It trains children from various schools in Nepal.

They also play friendly matches with other neighboring countries.

“We came here to play and learn new things from the Bhutanese team,” Hari Bdr Tamang, the Nepalese coach, said.

The team of 26 members will return to their country on Friday.
