The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, arrived in the country this morning. This is Mr. Modi’s first visit to a foreign nation after assuming office as the Prime Minister of India.

Drukair makes emergency landing in Kolkata

A Drukair flight to Mumbai from Paro had to make an unexpected landing at the NSC Bose international Airport in Kolkata due to a technical setback. Drukair official said the plane had to make an emergency landing after pilots found the windshield of the plane had cracked.

India’s PM to arrive in Bhutan tomorrow

India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will be visiting the country tomorrow at the invitation of His Majesty the King. According to a press release from the Foreign Ministry, the Prime Minister will be accompanied by Sushma Swaraj, the Minister for External Affairs, Ajit Doval the National Security Adviser and Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh.

Hundreds of monks and locals gathered at the silver jubilee celebration of the Ugyen Shedrupling Tsangka Shedra in Trongsa, yesterday. Coinciding with day, a 36-page magazine about the history of Shedra, sacred Neys and biography of the Shedra’s principals was also launched.The Khenpo of the Shedra said the monks started learning astrology from the Shedra since 1989. The shedra has 30 monks.

Traffic information during India’s PM visit

India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, will arrive in Bhutan tomorrow. Inline with Narendra Modi’s first foreign visit after he was elected the Prime Minister, motorists in Paro and Thimphu will have to follow particular timing while using Thimphu-Paro Highway. The Superintendent of Traffic Police, Lt.Colonel Passang Dorji explains.

NC says NO to tax measures

The National Council members while deliberating the Tax Bill 2014 said the tax measures proposed by the government will affect the low income groups the most. Most of the members did not support the proposed tax as it is too high.

Rabies outbreak in Gelegphu

Within three weeks the Gelegphu Central Regional Referral Hospital saw 120 people come for anti-rabies vaccination. Last month nine cows died after they were bitten by rabid dogs in lower Pelrithang, Umling and Serzhong. Another three suffering from rabies have been tied-up for fear of harming people. The two rabid dogs were killed. People in the area have consumed dairy products of the cattle suffering from rabies.
