Yonphula domestic airport in Trashigang is expected to be operational by April, next year.
The airport which was supposed to be completed by last October was delayed due to weather conditions, according to Department of Air Transport under information and communications ministry.
It has been over three years since the airport has been closed to air traffic.
Department of Air Transport’s Director, Karma Wangchuk said except for the blacktopping of the runway, most of the works have been completed.
The blacktopping of the runway will be completed by the end of March, next year.
Karma Wangchuk added the deadline for the completion of renovation works was deferred due to heavy rainfall in summer and cold weather in winter.
It was also deferred upon the recommendations from consultants of the Asian Development Bank.
The renovation is being funded by ADB under the Air Transport Connectivity Enhancement Project.
