Yonphula domestic airport in Trashigang which was supposed to be complete by end of last month, has been delayed.
The site engineer said though the works are in full swing, unfavourable weather condition is hampering the works. Only the blacktopping of final lane is left.
Works for reshaping the airport began in April 2015 as the runway’s gradient was not up to the international standard.
The length of the runway has now been extended to 1.5 kilometres.
The Nu 218 million work is being funded by the Asian Development Bank.
It has been more than three years since the airport has been closed to air traffic for renovation, improvement of safety and compliance with international standards.
