The popular Yangphel Open Archery Tournament kicked off in eight dzongkhags at nine different venues from today. The annual tournament has seen yet another record breaking participation of 267 teams from across the country.
During the inception of the Yangphel Open Archery Tournament in 2007, only 23 teams had taken part. It increased to 260 teams last year. This year the tournament has seen yet another record breaking participation of 267 teams, with 1,602 archers, from around the country.
The league round would be played in respective regions which will ends on July 16. The knockout round and finals will be played at the Changlimithang archery range.
About 112 teams are from Thimphu. The second highest participation is from Phuentshogling with 37 teams. Seven teams are from Sikkim in India.
The finals will be played on August 31.
