The parents of the girl, whose accident clip was shared on social media recently, were disheartened.
According to the parents, someone has filmed the footage while they were going through it to see the actual incident inside their shop after the accident on June 26th.
It was the footage of their own CCTV which has recorded the incident. They said they have no idea who filmed and uploaded it on social media.
The accident came to the limelight only after the footage went viral on social media. Police called both the taxi driver and the girl’s parents to Wangdue Phodrang Traffic Police. The accident occurred around 0900hrs in the morning whereas the police received the information only at around 1200hrs as per the police. According to the parents, they decided not to report to the police since there was no major injury to their daughter and assumed that it would rather take a long time to get the matter settled.
A committee member of Bajo town told BBS that he got the video clip from a shopkeeper at around 10 AM on that day and he forwarded the same in their local Bajo Wechat group expecting to reach to the concerned parents of the girl. But he says he had no idea who the parents were and who all sent it to other groups. He also said that he forwarded it to one traffic police too as information.
However, Police suspects that the video clip was intentionally uploaded on the social media after doing some editing. When asked about the legal aspects of sharing such CCTV footage on social media, Police said they cannot exactly say anything about the legal and illegality of it as of now.
BBS was informed that the accident case is under investigation. The documents of the taxi driver were seized and the driver is out on surety.
At present, the condition of the girl, who is a student, is reported to be normal. However, the parents are worried that there might be some side effects due to the impact of the accident. Police are still investigating the case.
