To make learning Dzongkha language easy for children, the Department of Information and Media under the Ministry of Information and Communications launched two Dzongkha nursery rhymes today.
The nursery rhymes are called Ka-Kha and Shay-Shay and are sung by two young girls. It also aims to promote the country’s cultural etiquette. The rhymes can be accessed through the department’s YouTube channel. Sonam Tenzin, the Director of the Department of Information and Media said the rhymes are audiovisuals meaning one can see as well as listen to the rhymes.
“The first objective is promoting the Dzongkha alphabets. These days’ children are very reluctant to read Dzongkha texts and also alphabets. And the other one is to help them learn the Driglam Namzhag which is our national etiquette,” he said.
