The Dhamngoi Dzomdu in Trashi Yangtse ended last Saturday and five candidates will run for the National Council seat. The eight Gewogs and the Thromde in the district saw only six aspiring candidates.
From Jamkhar Gewog, Kiba Wangchuk will stand as one of Trashi Yangtse’s National Council aspiring candidates. Kiba Wangchuk secured 236 votes to defeat Tsewang Tenzin who managed to get only 132 votes.
36-year-old Sonam Tenzin from Khamdang Gewog secured his nomination to stand in the National Council Elections after getting 238 Yes votes and 15 No votes.
Similarly, 40-year-old Ngawang Tashi is Tongmajangsa Gewog’s nominee for the National Council seat from Trashi Yangtse. Ngawang Tashi secured 213 Yes votes and 30 No votes.
Yangtse Gewog selected 61-year-old Sonam Tshering from the Dhamngoi Zomdu as their National Council nominee. He got 202 Yes votes and 18 No votes.
And finally, incumbent National Council Member, 40-year-old Karma Gyeltshen, will be vying for another term in office after he secured 95 Yes votes over 18 No votes from Yangtse Thromde.
The four Gewogs of Yalang, Ramjar, Toedtsho, and Bumdeling did not have aspiring candidates.
A total of 1533 voters showed up for the Dhamngoi Zomdu in Trashi Yangtse.
