A leopard that was trapped by the villagers of Kalapang, Monggar was released in the Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park yesterday. Before the release, the animal was treated with antibiotics and ointment. While in captivity, the leopard had sustained some external injuries.
The female leopard, weighing 50 kilos was caught from a makeshift trap on October 4.
The initial plan was to get the leopard to Taba in Thimphu. But the officials decided to treat the animal in Monggar and release in the park since the animal was young and likely to breed soon.
