Three more individuals tested positive for COVID-19 from the community in Phuentshogling today. Following the two positive cases yesterday, the health team traced and tested more than 80 primary contacts of the cases. 150 secondary contacts were also tested for the virus. However, the three new cases are not the contacts of the earlier cases.
According to sources, the three new cases was detected in a family comprising of the parents and their child from one of the flu clinics in Phuentshogling.
The primary contacts were the classmates of the 10-year-old boy, his teachers, relatives and neighbours from the Amochhu temporary shelter. Until this evening, around 230 contacts were traced and samples collected for RT-PCR testing.
The 29-year-old mother who tested positive for COVID-19, and her husband who tested negative, got the first dose of the COVID jab recently.
According to the situational update from the health ministry, a frontline worker on quarantine duty in Phuentshogling also tested positive for COVID-19 in addition to the three frontline workers who were detected with the virus yesterday. The country has now 73 active cases of COVID-19 in isolation across the country.
Meanwhile, the delivery services of essential items including LPG cylinders will start from tomorrow.
As per the notification from the incident management team, the import of essentials and all kinds of export will be facilitated as usual. The emergency travels and funeral services shall also be facilitated.
