Sarpang starts the third phase of relaxation beginning yesterday. Except for Sonamgatshel and Namkhaling constituencies in Gelephu Thromde, all places are now declared as a green zone. Sarpang has been under lockdown since January 16 after detecting community cases in Gelephu Thromde area.
The relaxations began at 11 yesterday morning. But not many people were seen out on the streets. They are wary about going out in the crowd.
“I am relieved after having been confined in our house for quite long,” said Tshering Wangdi, Gelephu resident.
“With lockdown movement restricted for almost two months now, our livelihoods have been severely impacted. We have loans to pay,” said Kado, another resident.
All offices and businesses in green zones are allowed to open. However, only identified shops in yellow zones will be allowed to open while restaurants and bars in yellow and red zones will remain closed.
People can move between green zones in public transport and taxis only. However, the movement between yellow and green zones is not allowed. Further relaxations will take place as testing continues in some places.
