Works to construct the 20-bedded hospital in Tashichhoeling Gewog in Samtse is progressing well and is expected to be completed on time. The Construction Development Corporation Limited or CDCL which is carrying out the construction works has completed about 22 per cent of the project so far. The project is a part of the 111th National Day Footprint Initiative. The prime minister in 2018 promised additional developmental activities for Samtse as footprints of the National Day.
About 36,000 residents of the five gewogs of Tashichhoeling Drungkhag besides Yoeseltse and Sangngagchogling Gewogs have been availing themselves of various health services from this old hospital.
However, with time, the 10-bedded Tashichhoeling Hospital is becoming old and running out of space.
Moreover, the hospital today is also facing water shortage and has a limited number of toilets.
But these problems are expected to be solved soon when the new hospital is constructed.
The CDCL is almost done with the construction of 3 one-storied service blocks and three main blocks.
“Going by the progress of construction of the buildings, we have almost completed the construction of three service blocks today. Almost 90 per cent of these works are complete,” said Chandra Prakash Chhetri, Project Manager of Tashichhoeling Hospital Project.
Besides the construction of the hospital, CDCL is also carrying out road development works simultaneously. Despite the slight delay in the project, CDCL is hopeful to complete the work on time.
“We are fully committed to completing the work on time. Given the changing weather here, we are planning to deploy additional workers and do overtime work as well. We are hopeful to overcome these problems very soon,” said Chandra Prakash Chhetri, Project Manager.
According to the Tashichhoeling Drungkhag, the facility worth Nu 500 M is supposed to be complete by October next year.
Once complete, the 20 bedded hospital is expected to benefit about five gewogs of Tashichhoeling Drungkhag and the nearby gewogs of Yoeseltse and Sangngagchogling gewog as well.
