A team of officials from Bhutan Narcotic Control Agency, police, and customs officials carried out a surprise check in Samdrup Jongkhar to see if the Tobacco Control Act is being implemented. They visited offices and restaurants in the town last afternoon.
Not a single person, office and business entity were penalised. The officials speaking to BBS said each place had a clear no smoking sign displayed.
Samdrup Jongkhar is the second town to have carried out surprise checking after Thimphu.
