A group of Sherubtse students stranded in Samdrup Jongkhar town in the wake of Assam strike has approached the Police to help them get home.
About more than 40 students returning to their homes from college for their winter break have signed the appeal letter asking the Police to provide convenience for travelling at the earliest. The appeal letter says they are worried should the strike continue.

“We are running out of cash staying and dinning in hotels,” states the letter.
These students and some other travelers are stuck in Samdrup Jongkhar following a 72 hours strike in India state of Assam.
“We are struggling. Renting a room is expensive,” said Tashi Wangchuk a Sherubtse student.
The students said they need a minimum of Nu.500. “We don’t have that kind of money,” said another student.
Responding to the appeal letter, the police said they will request the Shashastra Seema Bal to provide special escort on Thursday should there be no strike that day. There is no escort service on Thursdays and Sundays.
The strike ends on Wednesday evening and without escort on Thursday it would mean those stranded can move out of Samdrup Jongkhar only on Friday.
