The Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts (BTAD) has called for two days strike in the Indian State of Assam, starting this morning. The strike has affected the movement of Bhutanese vehicles and people.
A few sources say, the strike has been called by the Bodos demanding better status of their language and make it an official language in Bodo-populated districts.
Bodo language is recognised as a scheduled language in India.
Also, starting today, the Royal Bhutan Police was supposed to provide a convoy escort to Bhutanese plying in the Assam area. But the plan had to be shelved until the strike in Assam is called off.
