The spring open tennis tournament began in the capital today. Over 60 participants are taking part in the week-long tournament. The tournament is divided into six categories.
There will be participants from Darjeeling, India and Samdrup Jongkhar. The head coach of the Bhutan Tennis Federation, Tshering Namgay, said it is aimed at providing platform for the participants to test their ability.
He added that most of the participants are youth and it is expected to keep them meaningfully engaged.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winner. It’s an annual event organised by the Bhutan Tennis Federation with support from karma group. The finals are slated on 13th of this month.
