A special celebration was organised at Rongthung Nagtshang in Trashigang to celebrate the birth of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey. The celebration was held for two days.
Rongthung Nagtshang under Kanglung Gewog in Trashigang is the ancestral home of Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen’s parents.
Trashigang Dzongpon Thinley Tobgay, popularly known as Sey Dopola, constructed the Nagtshang. As soon as the birth of The Gyalsey was announced, a Lungdar was hoisted near the Nagtshang.
“The Yum of Yap Ddondup Gyaltshen, who is Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen Yap, is from Rongthung Nagtshang. The name of Nagtshang is Phuensum Norbugang, which was built by Trashigang Dzongpon. Since Nagtshang is located in Rongthung, we take pride in celebrating the birth of The Gyalsey,” said Kanglung Gup Kinzang Dorji.
For two days, the community of Rongthung celebrated the birth of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey at the Rongthung Nagtshang. A Tokha was hosted for the public for two days.
“We were happy to hear the news of The Gyalsey’s birth in Thimphu. We are now eager to welcome Their Majesties and His Royal Highness The Gyalsey in Rongthung Nagtshang,” said a local, Ugyen Tenzin.
Another resident Dawa Zangmo said she was overjoyed when the news of the Gyalsey’s birth came. “We had been eagerly waiting and praying for the news. Now, we pray for the wellbeing of Their Majesties the King and The Gyalsey.”
As part of the celebration, an archery match was organised between the five Chiwogs under Kanglung Gewog. The celebration concluded today.
In Yongphula Lhakhang, a three day Phurpa Namcha Pudri Tordo was organised to mark the birth of His Royal Highness The Gyalsey.
Yongphula Rinpoche, Lam Jigme Tenzin is presiding over the rituals, which is performed by over 70 Tsampas and Gomchens.
A Tangra or an offering to appease the local deities was performed today for the wellbeing of Their Majesties, The Gyalsey and the members of the Royal family.
The Tordo will conclude tomorrow.
