The National Assembly Speaker accepted the member of Opposition Kinga Tshering’s resignation.
The resignation was accepted after the North Thimphu MP came in person and stood by his original resignation letter submitted on August 11.
According to the Speaker, Jigme Zangpo, Kinga Tshering applied for study leave to undertake a course in Harvard University.
But as an extended leave would violate provisions of the Constitution, National Assembly Act and Rules of Procedure of Parliament, he was denied the study leave.
After a negotiation to reschedule the course failed and leave extension denied, MP Kinga Tshering submitted his resignation this month.
He served as the representative of North Thimphu Constituency for three years, during which he also represented in number of Parliamentary Committees.
