Seven immigration officials have appealed to the Chhukha District Court. The Dungkhag Court had convicted them for three years each for fraud in Phuentshogling, last month. They had not been able to pay in lieu of imprisonment.
However, BBS could not find out what the details of the appeal entail with the court refusing to comment.
The seven are among the 77 sentenced for tampering documents and bribery, among others. Among the 77 are immigration officials, police personnel, foreign workers recruitment agencies, and taxi drivers.
Only one was acquitted.
Besides the seven, the rest paid in lieu of imprisonment.
The Anti-Corruption Commission had investigated the case beginning last year.
