Locals in Samdrup Jongkhar say walking through detector machine at the border gate is not only tiresome but unnecessary trouble. Each time they cross the border gate, they have to get out of the vehicle and walk through the detector machine.
“After traveling almost 360 kilometres from Phuentshogling, passengers have to get out and walk through detector machine,” a resident of Samdrup Jongkhar, Ugyen Penjor.
Another resident, Nado said it is inconvenient for them, especially when it rains.
Sometimes, the security check leads to traffic jams as the drivers will have to wait for the passengers on the other side.
The issue was discussed during the 11th Thromde Tshogdu.
