The search team is still looking a five-year-old girl and a driver, who are presumed to have died, when the Bolero vehicle they were travelling in plunged into Gamri River, yesterday.
The search has now extended to Drangmechu. Gamrichhu is Drangmechu’s one of the tributaries.
The accident also killed four other people. Their bodies were recovered yesterday. The accident occurred at around 3:30 PM at Reju, 4 kilometres away from Trashigang.
An eyewitness said, the vehicle carrying seven people, hit a culvert and swerved about 100 metres off the road before plunging into Gamrichhu. They were returning to Trashigang from Rangjung after meeting their children and relatives.
The lone survivor, a 53-year-old woman is recuperating at Monggar Regional Referral Hospital and is said to be in a stable condition.
Police say the accident could have been caused by speeding and unlicensed driving.
