The stipend for Bhutanese students pursuing undergraduate studies in India has been increased. The increase only applies to students studying under the Bhutanese and Indian government scholarships.
It was revised from July last year.
They are now paid Nu. 4,500 as the monthly stipend. Earlier they were paid Nu. 3,600 per month. The students will also receive an annual contingency grant of Nu. 4,500.
The annual book allowance, the daily allowance for industrial training, and the travel allowance will however remain the same.
Over 300 Bhutanese scholars are studying in India. The majority of them are studying under the Indian government scholarships.
