An International conference on the, “Interplay of Economics, Politics and Society for Inclusive Growth”, is underway at the Royal Thimphu College (RTC). Academicians, policy makers and researchers from, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Canada and Bhutan are attending the conference.
The coordinator, Professor Sanjeev Mehta of RTC, said the theme of the conference is closely associated with the overall goal of the 11th Five year plan. It reflects the growing need to bring harmony between the economic development- rapid economic growth and equity.
Professor Sanjeev Mehta added that one of the main objectives of the conference is build a shared understanding, share experiences on the policies and arrive on a policy action to promote inclusive growth.
The two day conference will see discussions on economics, poverty and Health, Education and women’s empowerment among others.
The conference is organized by the Royal Thimphu College in collaboration with Gross National Happiness Commission (GNHC) with financial assistance from UNDP.
