The Road Safety and Transport Authority proposed to establish two branch offices in Thimphu and four base offices in four districts. Although the budget for it is yet to be endorsed, it is expected to enhance public service delivery and reach out to faraway places. It was proposed during the Ministry of Information and Communications Annual Performance Agreement presentation for the year 2021-2022.
Hundreds of people in Thimphu avail services from the RSTA head office in Thimphu every day. The parking outside the office is designed to accommodate only over 25 vehicles. To enhance public service delivery and to decongest crowding, the authority presented its draft proposal on establishing two extension office, one at Babesa and the other at Taba.
The RSTA also proposed establishing four base offices in Gasa, Panbang in Zhemgang, Lhamoi Dzingkha in Dagana and Wamrong in Trashigang. The plan is to take the authority’s services closer to the far corners of the country.
However, the cost expenditure is still being drafted as the Budget Appropriation Bill and the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2021-2022 is yet to be discussed in the parliament.
