The former Dangchhu Gup cannot take part in this local government election. His audit clearance was revoked yesterday evening. The former Gup from Tashidingkha_Zimi chiwog in Wangdue Phodrang was selected from the Dhamngoi Zomdu recently.

He initially got the audit clearance on November 12.

Similarly, the Gup candidate and a Tshogpa candidate from Rukha chiwog of Athang Gewog in Wangdue Phodrang were disqualified as they failed to produce a valid security clearance certificate. Sources say they have past criminal records. The scrutiny of the nomination of candidates was done today.

Wangdue Phodrang will now have 42 aspiring Gup candidates and 55 Mangmi candidates for its 15 gewogs.

Changa Dorji, Wangdue Phodrang
