The search for the four missing in the Punatsangchhu since the night of 6th August is still underway.
Meanwhile, the Punatsangchhu River diversion work at Miyoethang in Wangdue Phodrang is progressing well. Once the diversion work is complete, the concerned officials will be able to access the affected area of BHEL Electronics Mechanical Store and JAYPEE Ferrule Workshop of PHP II to assess the damages caused by the flood on the night of 6th August.
Earlier, the Punatsangchhu River was diverted from its actual course towards the right side by the Phangruchhu flood from Jaroggang in Athang Gewog submerging the roads towards BHEL and JAYPEE properties along with the Tsirang – Wangdue highway.
The PHP II and the Department of Roads are carrying out the works jointly collaborating with the dzongkhag administration. Heavy machinery has been deployed for the last five days and the progress have been encouraging.
After completing the diversion work successfully, the officials are also expecting to clear the Tsirang – Wangdue national highway. However, officials are not sure about when it will become ready for the traffic.
