Punakha District Hospital has received a new X-Ray machine. The new machine has higher resolution and capacity. It was inaugurated by the German Ambassador to India, Dr. Martin Ney yesterday.
On an average, the district hospital conducts around 200 X-Rays in a month. But its old X-Ray machine is worn out and breaks down frequently. Sometimes, the machine remains out of order for weeks and the hospital ends up having to refer patients to nearby hospitals.
The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Choni Wangmo, said the new machine will help the hospital provide better service to the patients.
“The machine can do more X-rays than the previous one. It can handle more work load and thereby we will have fewer breakdowns.”
Dr. Choni added they are hoping there will be no more breakdowns, which means low maintenance cost and better service to the people.
The X-Ray machine was donated by Siemens’s India branch with support from German Embassy in India. Siemens is a German manufacturing and electronics company headquartered in Berlin and Munich with branch offices overseas.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Technology and Services Private Limited in India, Gerd Hofner, was also present at the inauguration.
German embassy in New Delhi also donated an ECG machine and photo therapy machine to the hospital last December.
