The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, presented the State of the Nation Report in the Parliament, today. The Report includes 20 different topics that are of national interests. Monarchs, foreign relations, security, law and order, economy, democracy, media, private sector, roads and agriculture were some of important topics mentioned in the Report.
The Prime Minister said Bhutan is fortunate to have monarchs who has also put national interests above personal interests. He added Monarchs have selflessly and tirelessly worked to protect the security and sovereignty of the Country.
On security, law and order, Lyonchhen said armed forces are serving the Country well. However, he said, everybody has equal responsibility to safeguard the security and sovereignty of the Country.

Prime Minister said that as of August 26 this year, some 82, 179 people living in camps in Nepal have been resettled in core group of countries led by the United States.
The Report also says the government will commission a comprehensive review of civil service in the coming year. He said he will ask the civil servants themselves to undertake the review to identify the challenges and come up with practical road map to improve the civil service.
Construction of the national highways, upgrading highways, repairing farm roads and blacktopping Gewog roads are also reflected in the Report.
The Report also talks about the government’s initiative to improve agriculture yields and addressing human-wildlife conflict. Besides this, the Report has varied topics of national interest like 11th five year plan, democracy, media, youth, tourism, private sector, poverty, housing and human settlements and energy.
