The Prime Minister Jigmi Y.Thinley visited the ruins of Wangduephodrang Dzong today. He arrived at the site this morning to see the extent of damage caused by the fire to the Dzong last Sunday.
While meeting the Dzongkhag officials, Local Government representatives and the business community, Lyonchhoen said the Dzong will be restored to its former glory on time.
He said this is not the first time the Wangduephodrang Dzong has experienced such disaster. “Even in the past, the Dzong was hit by a number of natural calamities but was restored timely and this time also it will be reconstructed on time.”
The Prime Minister said he received number of calls from the donors showing interest to help reconstruct the Dzong. Lyonchhoen said, a Dzong more durable than the previous one, the one which cannot be destroyed by earthquake and other natural calamities will be built.
Meanwhile, officials said the segregation of the recovered relics will start from today.
Lyonchhoen was accompanied by the home and culture minister, Minjur Dorji.
