The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay, met with the Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Senior Minister for Communication and Information of the Republic of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang.
Lyonchhen said the number of Singaporean tourists visiting Bhutan have increased substantially after the establishment of air linkages and direct flights between the two countries. He also said a greater exchange of people have taken place fostering a deeper understanding and friendship.
Lyonchhen also conveyed his gratitude toward Singapore for organising a reconstructive surgical camp, ‘Operation Smiles Singapore’ which benefitted many disadvantaged Bhutanese in remote parts of the country.
Lyonchhen expressed his appreciation for the generous support received from Singapore in development of our human resource, e-governance and ICT Master Plan.
Mr. Wong thanked Lyonchhen and said that Singapore will work closely with Bhutan and continue to explore further cooperation in preservation of tradition and culture and other vital areas of shared interests.
