The Phuentshogling thromde is under 24-hour complete lockdown beginning today after 11 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the community. The movement of people and vehicles have been stopped. All businesses including export and import also remain closed.
Once again, the Phuentshogling thromde wears a deserted look. The positive cases were detected from the medical supply depot, which was functioning in containment mode. Medical supplies for all districts get delivered at the depot.
As per the southern COVID 19 Task Force, since the staff and family members visited shops and other places in the town, the risk of transmission is higher.
The lockdown was lifted on Tuesday after nearly four months. Frustrated residents are now questioning the protocols in the containment zones.
The task force was in the process of sensitising the managers of containment centres. Some managers from containment centres even signed an undertaking letter assuring strict enhanced COVID-19 safety protocols. Before the task force could complete the programme, positive cases were detected.
According to the task force, the opening up of the town will now depend upon the test results of the contacts.
