The pledge to fix the water shortage in Zobel Chiwog, Pema Gatshel is not new. It has been promised in the last three National Assembly elections, but the problem still exists. Now, candidates from both political parties for the Nanong_Shumar Constituency are making the same promise to solve this issue once more.
The people of Zobel Chiwog have faced a persistent water shortage, affecting their daily routines.
Over 50 households lack enough clean water, especially in winter, which makes things harder.
In a recent common forum, both political parties committed to finally tackling this issue once more.
“Supplying sufficient water by installing a pump is included in our pledge,” said Yeshey Jamtsho, Bhutan Tendrel Party’s Candidate for Nanong_Shumar Constituency.
“Whether the expenditure is in millions or billions, I would like to say this project will be given priority,” said Pema Wangchuk, People’s Democratic Party Candidate for Nanong_Shumar Constituency.
The people in Zobel Chiwog are hopeful that this time, the political parties will find real solutions to the water problem.
However, they also expressed that repeated pledges without action have eroded their trust in these promises from political parties.
“Both candidates promised to fix the water shortage. We wouldd appreciate it if they consider options like installing water pumps or tapping into other water sources, even if it requires significant investment. Our priority is getting a sustainable water supply,” said Choni Dorji, a resident.
“Both candidates have assured they’ll tackle the water shortage, but doubts linger among voters. As people directly affected by the shortage, we simply wish for a resolution. Solving this water issue would mean a lot to us,” said Dorji Gyeltshen, a resident.
Regardless of who wins the election, the villagers are hopeful that this time, their water problems will finally be resolved.
