People of Tashichholing Dungkhag are being given anti-rabies vaccination following outbreak of rabies on Sunday.
The rabid dog, which died two days ago, had bitten five people, nine dogs, and a goat and a calf.
The veterinarians there blame the porous border as the main cause of disease outbreak in the district.
They also highlighted the public must render full cooperation in vaccinating their pets.
To contain the outbreak, local authorities have restricted the movement of animals and their products from dungkhag to other places. They are also on the lookout for other suspected rabid dogs.
This year, the first case of viral disease of dogs and other mammals was reported at Baepoteng village.
