The people living in Denchi, who gave their land for the new Pemagatshel town, are yet to receive compensation. The delay has been attributed to the incomplete town structural plan.
“I am worried whether we will get compensation or not,” said Lhundrup, one of the Land Owners.
The Health Minister, Zangley Dukpa, said the plan is almost ready and that the people should not worry. “After it is finalized, all the land owners will get the compensation,” he said.
The Prime Minister Jigmi Y.Thinley, during his recent visit to Pemagatshel, said the town plan will be finalized by the cabinet. The matter will be then forwarded to the National Land Commission. He said several meetings, involving all the stakeholders, will have to be conducted before the compensation is finalized.
The total area of the town is 113 acres. There are 49 commercial plots and over 100 residential plots.
