Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) told the Food Corporation of Bhutan (FCB) of Phuentshogling to resolve audit irregularities. PAC was conducting public hearing, yesterday.
The irregularities, amounting to about Nu 50 M include overdue rent, delay of payment to bidders, non-deposited service charge and sundry debtor amounting.
PAC’s members said Public Hearing is proving effective in resolving audit memos.
“We found most of the relevant stakeholders taking initiatives in resolving all the irregularities mentioned in the audit reports,” said PAC’s Deputy Chair, Tashi Dorji.
The FCB has been asked to resolve some of the irregularities within this month.
The committee also gave possible suggestions to resolve the issues.
FCB’s management said ineffective procedures and policies resulted in the irregularities.
Any institutions with unresolved irregularities will face stronger resolutions in the next parliament session.
Public Hearings are being conducted in line with the Rules of Procedures for the Public Accounts Committee.
The committee has conducted six hearing as of now.
