A new academic book on the Bon religion and its relationship with Buddhism in the country has been published by the Oxford University Press. The book is written by a Bhutanese anthropologist Kelzang Tashi, who is currently a postdoctoral fellow at a university in Germany.
According to the author, the book is based on his PhD dissertation completed at the Australian National University during which he conducted a year-long fieldwork in Bhutan. The formal launch of the book titled “World of Worldly Gods: The Persistence and Transformation of Shamanic Bon in Buddhist Bhutan” will take place in Singapore later this year.
