The members of the Opposition party say they, too, are ready to defer the salary hike but only if doing so doesn’t violate provisions of the Constitution or parliamentary proceedings.
At a press conference held yesterday, the Opposition Leader, Dr. Pema Gyamtsho, also said the salary revision, if possible, should be reviewed again.
“We all know everyone is not happy. Civil servants are not happy, public are not happy and most of the bodies are expressing their opinions including some political parties.”
The Opposition Leader said they would like to see whether there is opportunity for the government to review and to handover the proposal back to the Pay Commission.
He said the terms of adjustments should be relooked at as one of the complaints is the civil servants at the lower rank is getting a minimal raise.
