After three-day deliberations, the National Assembly finally endorsed the Office of Attorney General Bill 2014, today.
One of the amendments is an addition of a new clause under section 67 of the bill. The new clause, with nine sub sections, talks about the eligibility criteria for the post of the Attorney General. The new clause was recommended by the National Council.
The amended clause say the term of the of the office of the Attorney General shall be five years or until attaining the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier.
The Assembly endorsed majority of the recommendations passed by the National Council.
