The police say there is no need to open an outpost in Lhoongtsho and Yoeselpang under Chang Gewog in Thimphu. They said it is not feasible since an outpost is established based on the population size and crime rate.

The police pointed out this at the Dzongkhag Tshogdu after the people of Lhoongtsho and Yoeselpang proposed for a need for an outpost in their areas.

The issue was discussed in the last DT meeting and it resurfaced again in the current meeting.

“There is low crime rate, particularly in Lhoongtsho and Yoeselpang. There were only 3 cases in 2016, 16 cases last year and nine cases this year. But we are working towards bringing down the crime rate,” Captain Sonam Wangchuk from RBP, Thimphu, said.

Lhoongtsho and Yoeselpang under Chang Gewog are currently being covered by the police from Changjiji and Babesa Outpost.
