With an aim to train, research, and create a pool of professionals in financial services, the first-ever Financial Institutions Training Institute (FITI) was inaugurated in Thimphu, today.

The institute will provide two diploma programmes- “Continuing Professional Development Programme” for six months for period of six months and “Post Graduate Diploma in Banking,” for nine months. While the Continuing Professional Development Programme is strictly for in-service employees of financial institutions in the country, the latter is for both in-service and pre-service candidates (having bachelors degree certificates).

Apart from that, FITI will also provide certificate programmes in five categories such as credit management, insurance, and pension management specifically for in-service employees. The institute is expected to reduce expenditure of sending financial employees abroad for training. Its website (www.fiti.bt) was also launched today.

The Financial Institutions Training Institute was constructed by the Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) in partnership with the financial institutions in the country. The institute is located right next to the swimming pool complex.
