A 30-year-old man is under custody after allegedly killing a 61-year-old man at Phutsena village of Dumtoed Gewog in Samtse. The incident occurred earlier today in the victim’s home.
The victim sustained severe cuts on his neck leading to excessive bleeding and death. Police said the suspect also assaulted the victim’s paralysed father who is receiving treatment at the Samtse Hospital.
According to the suspect’s statement to the police, the motive behind the attack was an alleged belief that the victim had engaged in black magic activities that adversely affected the suspect’s family.
Several residents said the suspect used to act strangely and was dealing with mental health problems. The case is under investigation.
