Farmers across the country are one step closer to being exempted from the cattle tax. The National Assembly today adopted the Cattle Tax Exemption Bill of Bhutan, 2024. So far farmers have been paying the tax for owning cows, yaks, horses and other livestock. The tax rates ranged from one to ten ngultrum per animal.
The bill was adopted with 38 members voting in favour and three abstaining, out of 41 members present. The bill will now be forwarded to the National Council for review.
