The National Assembly adopted the amendments made to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer today.
All 43 Members of Parliament present during the session voted in favour of the amendments.
The amendments were made to the international treaty on October 15, 2016 at the twenty-eighth meeting of the Parties in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer is a multilateral environmental agreement that regulates the production and consumption of nearly 100 man made chemicals referred to as ozone depleting substances.
The Protocol was adopted on September 15, 1987 and by far it is the only UN treaty to receive universal endorsement. All 197 Member States of the UN have ratified the treaty.
