Co-inciding with the Coronation Day of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, the nation celebrated the Social Forestry Day today. As part of this important event, The Prime Minister, Tshering Tobgay planted tree saplings near Chuzom in Thimphu.
The Prime Minister urged all the Bhutanese citizens to conserve and protect the environment, not only just for now, but also for the future generation.
Dzongdas, foresters and volunteers from Thimphu, Paro, Haa and Chhukha also took part in the celebration.
More than 3,000 willow saplings and 200 seedlings of various species of plants were planted to revive the environment along the Thimphu, Paro and Chhukha highway.
The event was organised by the Department of Forests and Park Services under Ministry of Agriculture and Forests.
