(Annual Drukpa Council Update): The participants of the Fourth Annual Drukpa Council at Hemis monastery in Ladakh broke the previous world record of planting most saplings. They planted more than 99,000 saplings in 50 minutes yesterday. This was certified by the Guinness Book of World Records. The target was 100,000 trees in an hour. Close to 10,000 people participated in the plantation.
His Holiness Gyalwang Drukpa Rinpoche and Home Minister Minjur Dorji also took part in the event.
The previous record of planting most trees was set in Philippines last year where they planted just over 64,000 saplings in 15 minutes.
