Two men involved in the abduction of the 19-year-old student from Sarpang town have been killed in an encounter. The Superintendent of Police in Kokrajhar District under Assam, said they were killed in a forest near Ultapani village, which is about12 kilometres from Sarpang town, on Monday.
The SP said the Indian SIM card, used for calling the family of the victim to demand the ransom, was also retrieved from the body of the men. Both the men belonged to the National Democratic Front of Bodoland.
Another three men have been arrested in connection with the abduction. The SP said they have not retrieved the ransom that the victim’s parents paid to the abductors.
The boy was released on Sunday. He was abducted from Sarpang town by two armed men on January 4.
