With the inauguration of five-kilometre Tangmochhu-Maenjabi farm road, Lhuentse Dzongkhag has now completed over 340 kilometres of farm road connectivity in the Dzongkhag.
The construction of the road, which is over 6 metres wide, began over 7 months ago. A bridge will be later constructed for the convenience of the people. During the inauguration, the Dzongda and the Lam Neten also inaugurated the opening of another 9 kilometre farm road construction. This farm road will continue from Maenjabi to Yomi.
“All the Gewogs have now been connected. Not only the farm road network, but also almost all achievements in Lhuentse are very good,” said Dzongda, Tshering Kelzang.
People from Yomi and Maenjabi villages gathered to celebrate the occasion. They expressed their gratitude to the Dzongkhag officials and the local government for their commitment.
“Before we had to carry things on our back and many of us also used horses, but the people without horses had tough time. Now I think the things will improve with the road,” said Sonam Penjor, a villager.
The farm road is being constructed at a cost of over Nu. 8 million.
